Monoclonal Antibody Treatment Update

Monoclonal Antibody Treatments have been shown to be ineffective in treating the Omicron variant of COVID-19 and as such, we are no longer offering Monoclonal Antibody Treatments at this time.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update

COVID-19 vaccinations are available at Norland Avenue Pharmacy on a walk-in basis Monday through Friday from 9am-6pm and Saturday from 8:30am-12:30pm. Pfizer is available to anyone 12 and older and Moderna is available to anyone 18 and older.

Third Doses: A third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is recommended for Moderna or Pfizer recipients who are moderately to severely immunocompromised and received their second dose at least 28 days prior. Children age 5-11 years who are moderately to severely immunocompromised should receive an additional primary dose vaccine 28 days after their second shot. At this time, only the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is authorized and recommended for children aged 5-11.

Fourth Doses: Moderna or Pfizer recipients who are moderately to severely immunocompromised are eligible for a fourth dose six months after receiving their third dose.

People are considered to be moderately or severely immunocompromised if they have:

  • Been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood

  • Received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system

  • Received a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system

  • Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)

  • Advanced or untreated HIV infection

  • Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress your immune response

People should talk to their healthcare provider about their medical condition, and whether getting an additional primary shot is appropriate for them.

Booster Shots: The CDC has shortened the interval from 6 months to 5 months for people who received the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine.  This means that people can now receive an mRNA booster shot 5 months after completing their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series.  The booster interval recommendation for people who received the J&J vaccine (2 months) or the Moderna vaccine (6 months), has not changed. All adolescents age 12-17 years SHOULD receive a COVID-19 booster 5 months after completing their primary series of Pfizer vaccine.
